Rick Ruiz is responsible for a diverse set of roles at TwentyFour by Charles Woodson. Rick began his career in the wine industry at Robert Mondavi Winery where he gained invaluable hands-on experience in the cellar. He was fortunate to train under industry veterans who taught him every step of the art of producing wine from cultivating the vines to bottling the final blend. He was not only able to observe the many elements important in the craft of winemaking, he also developed a discerning palate and mastered the management of the entire winemaking process.
When Charles was ready to turn TwentyFour Wines into a full time project, he asked Rick to join him. Today, Rick handles the day to day winemaking operations, working with consulting winemaker, Gustavo A. Gonzalez. Similar to the early days of his career, Rick is again learning from one of the best in the industry. The two work together to decide when the grapes are most optimal for picking, the length of maceration and fermentation, and what barrel program and winemaking techniques will be used. The entire team, Charles included, work on the final blend.
When Rick isn’t in the cellar or tasting the lots, he is on the road with Charles, managing the sales operations and hospitality as the pair travel the nation.
